What is CATA, and who is it for?

CATA is an interactive AI desktop companion for developers who work with coding agents. It brings task notifications, agent dispatch and reminders into a small companion on your desktop.

Can I try CATA before installing it?

Yes. The browser playground lets you try movement, reactions and a simulated dispatcher. It does not connect to your AI accounts, run terminal commands or schedule real reminders.

How does CATA connect to my AI tools?

The cata-mcp package connects a compatible MCP client to the CATA desktop gateway. Start the desktop app, configure your client and enable the relevant integration. Setup can vary between tools.

Does everything stay on my computer?

The CATA gateway uses a local address. Prompts sent to external AI services remain subject to those providers’ data and privacy policies. A local gateway does not mean every connected service runs offline.

Can I turn off sound and animation?

In this browser demo, sound starts off and can be enabled in the playground. You can pause motion at any time. The page also respects your device’s reduced-motion preference.
